When a 10-year-old enterprise software company asks you to build a UX team, you say yes. After 4 months of recruiting, I assembled 4 teams: Interaction Design, UI Design, Accessibility, and Front-End Development. Fast-forward 2 years to today: I have 15 employees who work seamlessly in scrum-based pods across a distributed UX department in Austin and India. They are rocking it out and moving fast to get the biggest release in Tk20's history out the door.
After a decade of software engineering with no design, you end up with a large product that’s begging for a new shell. My team and I took on that challenge 1.5 years ago as we plunged head deep into a complete system redesign. We’ve since recreated the entire front-end framework across all 2500 pages of the software, along with a completely redesigned user experience.
The icing on the cake with our product redesign is full compliance with WCAG AA regulations across the entire system. We’ve created an awesome experience for all users and abilities. We will be the first in our market to offer a fully accessible and responsive system that tackles everything from student assignments to accreditation reporting.
